When Maxwell first dropped, I wasn't rocking with dude. See, when that whole "neo soul" phase was going on, I was team D'Angelo all day and that was it. I wasn't trying to hear nothing else! When I was up at WEAA-FM me and my homegirl Monica who LOVED Maxwell use to argue all day about who was better and needless to say that D' always came out on top. Since D' is cut from the Sade cloth of releasing albums every 100 years, by the time Max dropped his 2nd album "Embrya" I actually copped it to see what all of the hype was about but I was kinda lost in what direction he was going (along with the bulk of Maxwell fans) so it wan't til "Now" dropped that I can say I became a fan of dude. At that point I went back and discovered how INCREDIBLE "Urban Hang Suite" was and couldn't wait for dude to drop something new. When "BLACKsummernights" dropped it was a wrap for me cause that jawn right there was 5 mics to me. Now I'm just hoping we don't have to go another 8 years (the time frame between Now & Black...) til we get the next installment of the BlackSUMMERnights series. And while most folk think money is only good for those slow jam bedroom bangers like "Til The Cops Come Knocking", "This Woman's Work" and "Bad Habits" check out my "Uptown With Maxwell" which shows that's money's uptempo game is just as nasty.
