Anytime someone asks me about soul singers, the one name I ALWAYS bring up that shocks folk every time, is my dude Sleepy Brown. It's criminally insane the way Sleepy is slept on but I think that's because most folk have never heard his debut album "The Vinyl Room" that dropped back in '97 but was an independent release and his 2nd album "For The Grown and Sexy" that got shelved when his label Dreamworks folded. So if you only heard his "Mr. Brown" album, then I get how the average person's attitude would be "but he's only had one album out" when in actuality he's had 3 and the 2 folk didn't hear were both real, real dope. In fact, "The Vinyl Room" is a 5 mic classic to me. But to help civilize the uncivilized, I put together my best of Sleepy Brown mixtape called "ATL's Funk Soul Sensation" and all I can say is if you peep this and you're still not feeling Mr. Brown...do me this justice and kill yourself, it's that simple.
